Studio E Art Therapy
We are excited to offer Studio E: The Epilepsy Art Therapy Program and subsequent Art Show to children with epilepsy in the Chattanooga area!
Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee is excited to bring children with epilepsy the opportunity to express themselves through art. The children will work with Brooke Montague with HART Gallery in a group setting to create artistic pieces through a variety of activities, and learn from others in an open, welcoming environment. Studio E is offered for free thanks to our ongoing partnership with the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck.
Studio E is a 6-session program, each Wednesday from July 5 through August 9 of 2017, for which each parent will complete registration paperwork.
Art is a natural way to communicate, relieve tension and express emotions. There are some things that many kids (and even adults!) cannot find the words to describe and art makes that easier. At the same time, kids are generally less guarded through art and may be able to communicate ideas more clearly.
Once the program is complete, the children's art will be part of a show at HART Gallery Sunday, August 20th.
Artistic expression can be powerful for people with epilepsy. Art can say things that words can't.
"Through the process, I discovered a lot of talent and passion in myself that I didn't even know existed." - Studio E Participant
